On 27 January 2026, TU Delft hosted a valorisation workshop for the Dutch engineering and consultancy company Haskoning. The workshop brought together approximately 30 to 50 participants and included a visit to the company’s facilities.

During the workshop, the TU Delft team presented the SMARTeeSTORY installation and shared insights into the project’s human-centred approach to smart buildings. The exchange provided an opportunity to discuss how building technologies can respond more effectively to occupants’ needs while supporting comfort and energy performance.

Connecting smart-building research with industry

The workshop helped bring SMARTeeSTORY research into dialogue with professionals from industry. By presenting the installation and discussing human-centred design, the event supported knowledge exchange around the practical application of smart-building solutions.

At the Delft demonstration site, located in the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, SMARTeeSTORY is enhancing the digital control of selected office areas. The solutions address systems such as lighting, heating, ventilation and smart blinds, with the aim of improving energy performance while considering occupants’ comfort and preferences.

The workshop forms part of the project’s wider capacity-building activities. Through workshops and site visits, the project connects researchers, technology providers and other stakeholders, encouraging the exchange of knowledge about smart, user-centred and energy-efficient buildings.
